What is Vedic Meditation?

Vedic meditation is a simple mental technique with profound effects of stress reduction and connection. It is suitable for even the busiest individuals.

With this practice, you can meditate anywhere you feel safe to close your eyes. This is important because the benefits of meditation are cumulative. This means, a meditation that “works” is a meditation you practice! Enjoyment and understanding of technique are vital.

Vedic meditation uses vibrant sound to settle the mind. Essentially, I teach you how to visit the source of all thoughts where it is quiet, rather than trying to focus or control away thoughts.

This practice gives the gift of inner resilience. It is a great tool to help you quit any unsustainable habits, improve relationships, and increase overall health.

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

About Cindy

None of us know how long we have in our bodies, but we get a say in how meaningful the time we have feels.

Illuminating everyone’s natural ability to de-excite and feel inner calm is how I like to spend my days. I’m also a mother-to-be and writer of prose.

Once upon a time, I lived in New York City. I worked with Booker Prize and Pulitzer Prize winning authors. I attained the very things I thought would bring me happiness (prestige, community, a home), but despite these achievements, worry continued to rent my days.

When I met my teacher Thom Knoles, he taught me this simple process. He showed me how to use Vedic meditation to unwind trauma and accumulated stress. I felt healthier and more creative with every practice.

In the foothills of the Himalayas—at a highly selective, residential training—Thom personally trained me to be custodian of this technique. He helped me discover from within the timeless truths sung in the Vedas. These days, sharing this practice and fostering meaningful changes in students is a wellspring of profound joy and meaning.

I look forward to meeting you.

I went into Cindy's meditation course with doubt and apprehension, fearful that my brain was noisy beyond repair. Cindy's warmth, humility, wisdom, and trust in her students and in the process made it possible for me to dive into a daily practice with joy.

- Bryna, 27, writer

“VM has become an indispensable part of my life. The effortlessness of the regime makes it very easy to sustain and integrate into everyday life. Cindy’s clear explanation, support, and encouragement definitely gave me a great start to this lifelong journey. I highly recommend this to anyone who feel overwhelmed or stressed out in general.

Warm, patient, and completely comforting, Cindy was wonderful at connecting the sometimes abstract dots of meditation practice. She approaches her students with curiosity and total openness.

- Leslie, 33, journalist

Vedic Meditation has deepened my journey of self-exploration immeasurably, and Cindy has been the most thorough, intuitive, and compassionate guide I could have hoped for.

- Su, 47, seeker

Cindy is wise, caring and full of light, an excellent teacher with the ability to convey effortlessly the essence and practice of Vedic meditation. Her course encourages that an attitude of curious exploration replace that of expectation, and she creates and maintains an atmosphere wherein one may feel comfortable making contact with one's vulnerability. That said, the expectations I had before beginning the course were met, all of them, in the end. Cindy had me meditating on day one, and when the course concluded, I was confident I could continue the practice on my own. Even though the course is finished, the teaching continues: Cindy still checks in on me, and whenever I have a question, I write to her and she responds with an in-depth email. As countless others can attest, Vedic meditation is life-changing, even life-saving, and I am so grateful to have Cindy as a teacher and a resource on this journey!

- John, 30, scholar
